360 Documentaries: It’s still all about the story but how do you present the story? Shooting a documentary in 360 presents a whole new set of challenges. You have to think in 360. And most storytellers/filmmakers are not used to doing that. We will explore some of the methods used to tell your story with this new extremely immersive medium. Where will your video be seen?

Cameras and equipment. 360 requires specialized equipment. We will examine a few of the different types of 360 cameras and talk about their uses. Do you use two cameras, six cameras, or 16 cameras? Just what it is ambisonic sound and why you need to use it now?

Post Production tools. What kind of computer do you need and just how do you process all of these cameras into one image? What are the programs to use and what is the learning curve?  Where can you go for help? Some of the programs that we will discuss are Autopano Video Pro and Autopano Giga, Adobe Suite of tools, Mettle SkyBox and more.
